Congregation Emanu-El of Westchester is committed to continuously fostering Reform Jewish life among all our congregants. There are three essential pillars to realizing this vision:
Learning and Studying – We believe in studying Torah and texts of our tradition and relating them to the modern world. We embrace the concept of intergenerational study, family education and chevrutah, study groups of people coming together to learn and to discuss.
Worshipping and Reflecting – We encourage active participation in Shabbat and holiday services and activities as a means of educating, building Jewish community, and sharing traditions. We aspire to participatory services attended by various age groups.
Instilling Jewish values – We are committed to instilling and encouraging the practice of ethical and moral values. This includes the mission of extending acts of charity within and beyond the Jewish community.
Through the implementation of these three pillars, we hope to strengthen a sense of community among our geographically diverse and multi-generational congregation.
We welcome all to join us in interpreting Judaism, so that it may continue to be a source of meaning and inspiration for our time.
