COVID: Updated Policies

Masks Optional for Fully Vaccinated Congregants and Visitors

Following Governor Hochul’s announcement regarding the lifting of the New York State mask wearing mandate, and in consultation with members of the congregation, the Reopening Committee has decided that the wearing of masks at Congregation Emanu-El is now optional. Of course, those who prefer to wear a mask are encouraged to do so, and we ask that you respect each person’s individual choice. Our vaccine requirement (below) remains in effect, and we reserve the right to request proof of vaccination at any time.

Vaccination Requirements

Adults and children 5 years or older must be fully vaccinated to attend programs and services. If you require a medical exemption, please contact Abbie. You are considered fully vaccinated two weeks after the second dose of the Moderna or Pfizer vaccine, or two weeks after a single dose of the Johnson & Johnson vaccine. While we are not requiring boosters at this time, we strongly recommend that everyone who is eligible get a booster to protect their health and the health of everyone in the community.

Bring Proof of Vaccination

We reserve the right to request proof of vaccination at any time. Acceptable forms of proof of vaccination status are a COVID vaccine card (or a photograph of your card) and the New York State Excelsior PLUS pass.
