Jewish leadership takes many forms. This year, the Westchester Jewish Council will honor two Emanu-El congregants with the Julian Y. Bernstein Distinguished Service Award for passion and devotion to the Jewish community.
Hedy Cardozo will be honored for her dedicated work at Congregation Emanu-El of Westchester. Hedy currently serves as chair of our Social Action Committee, co-chair of our Social Justice Committee and as a member of our Religious School Committee. Over the years of her involvement, she has served on many other committees and is always quick to offer constructive ideas and then give of her time to make them happen. Our congregation – and the whole Westchester Jewish Community – is richer for Hedy’s dedication.
Richard Cohen will be recognized for his service as president of AJC Westchester/Fairfield. In that capacity Richard partnered with the AJC professional staff and other volunteers to advance AJC’s mission of combating rising antisemitism and extremism, defending Israel’s place in the world, and safeguarding the rights and freedoms of all people.
Mazel Tov to Hedy and Richard for this well-deserved recognition. The award ceremony will take place online on March 16 from 7:30 – 9:00pm, and is free and open to the public. You can register for the event here.
