Congregation Emanu-El of Westchester, Congregation KTI, JCC of Harrison, and Rye Community Synagogue have come together to host 16 families of first responders from Kibbutz Gevim. While it is a tremendous undertaking, we all believe it is essential to support our brothers and sisters in Israel and to build lifelong connections within our Westchester community.
“On October 7th, at 6:29am, kibbutz members awoke to rocket sirens and explosions. Within moments, and without knowing what was next, these civilians transformed into emergency squads, bravely leaving their families in safe rooms to confront hundreds of Hamas terrorists attacking their communities. Their courageous actions not only protected their kibbutzim, but served as a shield for all of Israel, preventing far greater destruction across the country.”
Project 24, born with the goal of assisting individuals and communities affected by the events of October 7th, is undertaking its most ambitious project, and we need your help – in whatever way you can. Thanks4Giving is a way of recognizing those that went and fought to protect their families, kibbutzim and Israel on October 7. Project 24 will be bringing these civilian emergency teams and their families to “communities” in the tri-State area and Florida where they will be hosted by families beginning November 10 with the group heading back to Israel late on November 16. This is an incredible way to help these heroes and their families tell their stories, promote their healing and for you to connect in a meaningful way. The week will be marked by a gala honoring the fighters, community and one-off events we organize for our guests and a unique Shabbat dinner.
