Learning How To Lead A Religious Service (Zoom sessions)

When

6:00 pm - 7:00 pm

Event Type

Jews have been praying for thousands of years, and while the specifics of the prayers have evolved and changed over time, the overall structure has remained the same. From ancient blessings written by the rabbis, to the liturgical poems written by poets and musicians, every Jew is capable of putting a bit of themself into their worship. Leading prayer does not require ordination, and it is with this belief that each of us can aspire to serve as a Shaliach Tzibur, a “prayer leader.” In this multipart class, we will review the liturgical structure of our Friday night worship: the words of tefillah (prayer), the power of kavanah (intention), and the navigation of a Zoom service.
